More and more people are feeling an urgency about knowing where their food comes from and how their food is produced. Is it grown or raised in a conventional, high yielding, chemical infused, confined space? Or is it in a chemical-free, non-GMO, free range, pasture-raised, in harmony with nature way?
Maybe you’re concerned about this or maybe you’re not. There is no right or wrong answer. You don’t have to be concerned if you don’t want to be. If you’re not concerned about the current US food system and you’re happy with where your food comes from, that’s fine…you don’t have to leave this website…everyone is welcome!
I’m not saying that all of my opinions are correct and I’m not telling anyone what to do. I am NOT anti-farm or farmer! A lot of my family are farmers and I love them. There doesn’t always have to be only one way to do everything.
I choose to do my gardening and chicken raising in a natural way. No chemicals, non-GMO seeds, etc. Does that mean that GMO’s are never used here? No. That’s not what it means. The feed that I supplement my chickens with is sometimes GMO free and other times it is made with GMO grains. I prefer the GMO free, but sometimes I need to buy the conventional feed because it is cheaper. I do what I can with what I have. This is not a perfect non-GMO micro-farm.
Anyway, I hope I have gotten all the politically correct crap out of the way, I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings if we happen to disagree on something! (If I missed something, I’m sure someone will let me know!)
More to come! I will be posting more on growing your own food, how to start, how much space you need, how to start seeds indoors, growing microgreens, planning your garden, raising chickens for eggs and meat, and a lot more!
